Guy Andrews

Bespoke MIDI Lighting control system

Designed by Zak Norman

Client: Houndstooth

Black Box Echo have a designed a new lighting control system for Guy Andrews, which gives him direct control of all the lighting fixtures, bypassing the lighting desk entirely.

Through events hidden in his Ableton project, he can trigger individual light intensities, as well as chases and audio reactive patches that are linked to his software instruments. BBE worked with Guy to build the system around the way he sets up his project, meaning he has not had to make any concessions to the live elements of his performance to keep his lighting show in sync.

The triggers are linked directly to instruments and scenes, giving the artist the freedom to focus totally on the music during the show, safe in the knowledge the lighting will be doing its thing right along side him.
